Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Anniversary celebration to be low-key, says SGF
Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume says Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Day Anniversary on October 1, will be marked low-key.
Senator Akume who is also the Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on the Independence Day Celebration disclosed this, Monday during the World Press Conference, held in Abuja.
He explained that in line with the current economic realities on the ground, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu gave his approval for this 63rd Anniversary to be low-key stressing that the theme of the anniversary is “Nigeria @ 63, Renewed Hope for Unity & Prosperity.”
The SGF reeled out events to mark the Independence Day Anniversary which include; the World Press Conference on Monday, 26th September at the National Press Center, the Anniversary Symposium/Public Lecture, on Thursday, 28th September 2023 at the State House Conference Center, Lecture on Friday, 29th September 2023 National Mosque Conference Center followed by Juma’at Prayer at the National Mosque.
Other events are the Presidential Broadcast, on Sunday, 1st October 2023 at 7:00 am, Inter-Denominational Church Service on Sunday, 1st October 2023 at the National Christian Center, and the military Parade on Monday, 2nd October 2023 at the Presidential Villa.
