Investors gain N187.26bn as NGX-ASI increases by 0.51%
Nigeria’s Equities Market closed positive on Tuesday by 0.51% as the NGX-ASI creased to 67,217.77 from 66,876.92 recorded at the close of the previous trading day; indicating a YTD return of +31.15%.
Market capitalization creased by N187.26 billion to N36,929 trillion from N36.742 trillion recorded at the close of the previous trading day, while the market turnover increased to N6.330 billion from N4.388 billion.
At the end of today’s trading session, a total of 319,904,303 shares in 6,272 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 6,330,146,712.62, were traded.
Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Monday, October 23), today’s data shows 2% improvement in volume, 44% improvement in turnover, and 2% improvement in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 36.9 trillion.
In the aggregate, 120 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 21 gainers and 13 losers. Flour Mills Nigeria led the gainers with 9.93% share price appreciation closing at NGN 31.00 per share, followed by University Press (+9.81%), Chams (+9.38%) and Geregu Power (+9.05%).
On the losing side, VFD Group came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 9.98% at NGN 218.20 per share, followed by Associated Bus Company (-9.88%), FTN Cocoa Processors (-3.7%) and Nigerian Exchange Group (-3.67%).
Access Holdings recorded the highest volume of 50.8 million traded shares, followed by Guaranty Trust Holding (42m), Fidelity Bank (32.1m) and United Bank for Africa (25.7m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) moved up 340.85 (0.51%) points to close at 67,217.77, representing a 1-week loss of 0.16%, a 4-week loss of 0.16%, but an overall year-to-date gain of 31.15%.
Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Top 50 Index (+0.69%; -0.6% 1WK; +40.37% YTD), NGX Top 30 Index (+0.53%; -0.1% 1WK; +34.2% YTD), NGX Banking Index (+1.44%; +1.7% 1WK; +69.39% YTD), NGX Main Board Index (+0.65%; -0.45% 1WK; +33.42% YTD), NGX Consumer Goods Index (+0.54%; -0.59% 1WK; +94.87% YTD), and NGX Pension Index (+0.44%; -0.62% 1WK; +61.34% YTD).
