Akhaine visits APC State EXCO, promises to restore Edo lost glory
Activist Professor- turned politician, Sylvester Odion Akhaine has pledged to restore Edo State lost glory if elected Governor of the State in next year’s gubernatorial election.
Prof Akhaine who is from Edo Central, Ekpoma made the remark while addressing the All Progressives Congress (APC) state EXCO on Tuesday morning with the highest optimism that the crises plaguing the state in all ramifications are surmountable with the right leadership.
“Edo people should be expecting a great deal of transformation and I understand the challenges and we are ready to fix them with a great deal of commitment and we will cub the challenges of the state.
“Our people are very honest people with a great deal of integrity and they should choose the right candidate to run the affairs of the state, because we can’t have the same story over and over again because we need a governance that will make our people smile again.
“Millions of our people know that I have a menu of solutions to so many of our problems through my interactions with them.
“For example, in 1907 there was portable water in the then Mid-West Region, but in 2023 there is no pipe borne water or any good means to get one.
“The pipe borne water comes from the Ogba river for the entire people of the state, and I think we have the solution to solve all these problems, if elected”, Prof Akhaine said.
Early, the State Secretary of the party, Engr. Lawrence Orkar, assured Prof Akhaine of a level playing field to ensure that APC’s governorship ticket goes to the best among the contestants.
Dr. Felix Oriakhi who introduced Akhaine told the State Working Committee of APC that they had before them a formost pro-democracy activist and internationally recognised scholar, and that Edo would be blessed with his leadership of the state.
