Tinubu returns to Abuja after work stay in France
President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja, the nation’s capital after a brief work stay in France.
He arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at about 2:25 am on Friday, August 23, 2024.
The President is expected to swear in the new Chief Justice Nigeria (CJN) on Friday morning at the Council Chambers of the State House, following the retirement of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola from the service.
It would be recalled that the Tinubu departed Abuja for France on Monday for “a brief work stay”.
Meanwhile, the National Judicial Council (NJC) had on August 15, after its 106th meeting, recommended Justice Kudirat Olatokunbo, Kekere-Ekun to President Tinubu to replace the outgoing CJN, Ariwoola.
A statement issued earlier on Thursday by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, disclosed that President Tinubu will be swearing in a new CJN on Friday.
“President Tinubu will swear in Justice Ariwoola’s successor at the State House Council Chambers on August 23, 2024,” Ngelale had disclosed.
