Pointer Newspapers honours Ohwodiasa, others at 30th anniversary
The Delta State Coordinator of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Agency (NMDPRA), Engr. Victor Ohwodiasa, has been honoured with the prestigious Leadership icon and Public service Award of Excellence.
The award was bestowed on Ohwodiasa on by the board and management of the Delta State-owned Pointer Newspapers at the occasion of its 30th anniversary.
The colourful event was held at the Grand Hotels and Resort, Asaba with dignitaries from all works of life including the state governor, Sheriff Oborevwori in attendance
In his opening remark, the Chairman, Board of Pointer Newspapers, Chief Ebenezer Okorodudu said the awardees were carefully selected based on their track record of achievements in various field of human endeavour.
He said that Ohwodiasa was honoured in recognition of his contributions to public communication and institutional development in the state.
“This honour acknowledges your commitment to excellence, leadership and public service,” Okorodudu said.
Speaking with newsmen, Ohwodiasa expressed profound appreciation to the management of Pointer Newspapers for the award.
Ohwodiasa who was represented by Dr Manu Sunday promised to continue to do his best in the service to God and humanity.
“I am highly elated by this award and I must express my appreciation to the board and management of the Pointer Newspaper for finding me worthy for this honour.
“There is no doubt that to whom much is given, much is expected, so I will continue to do my best in service to God and humanity,” Ohwodiasa promised.
In his remark, governor Oborevwori urged the media to consolidate on it’s constitutional role of presenting balance and factual reportage.
He also challenged the media to disseminate information that promote national unity as well improve of it’s agenda setting to strengthen the nation’s democratic system.
Other awardees were: the Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, RT. Hon. Imomotimi Guwor, Vice Chancellor of Delta State University (DELSU), Prof. Andy Egwunyenga, Environmental activist, Dr Newton Jibunoh and amongst others
