Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced plans to supply 1.5 billion litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) monthly to the Nigerian market in December 2025 and January 2026, reinforcing its commitment to uninterrupted fuel availability during the festive season and into the New Year.
The announcement was made over the weekend by Aliko Dangote, President and CEO of Dangote Industries Limited, who confirmed that the refinery will make 50 million litres of PMS available daily from December 1, 2025.
“In line with our commitment to national wellbeing, and consistent with our track record of ensuring a holiday season free of fuel scarcity, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery will supply 1.5 billion litres of PMS this month. We will supply another 1.5 billion litres in January, and we plan to increase production to 1.75 billion litres in February, which translates to over 60 million litres per day,” Dangote said.
Currently, the refinery produces between 40 and 45 million litres of PMS daily. Dangote noted that the planned daily supply of 50 million litres demonstrates the refinery’s capacity to meet domestic demand and counters claims that local refineries cannot sustain national fuel needs.
Collaboration with Marketers and Distribution Expansion
Dangote emphasized ongoing engagements with petroleum marketers to strengthen distribution networks, including expanding CNG-powered haulage systems.
“Our priority is to ensure Nigeria receives the products it needs. This is not driven by profit motives; it is about guaranteeing the availability of essential energy products. It is similar to the transformation we delivered in the cement sector,” Dangote added.
In a letter addressed to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Dangote Refinery invited regulators to visit the refinery starting December 1 to independently verify daily production levels. The company also pledged to publish daily production and stock figures across online and print media in the interest of full transparency.
Expansion Plans and Economic Impact
Dangote noted that the refinery is progressing with an expansion plan to reach a capacity of 1.4 million barrels per day, with more than 100,000 workers expected to be involved across the refinery and fertiliser complex. The Group remains committed to driving Nigeria’s industrial growth and energy security, backed by strong public support.
During a visit by the South-South Development Commission (SSDC) to the refinery and Dangote Fertiliser complex, SSDC Managing Director Usoro Offiong Akpabio commended Dangote’s leadership and his contribution to Nigeria’s industrial capability, energy stability, and long-term economic competitiveness.
She described the South-South region as Nigeria’s natural energy corridor, rich in crude oil reserves, gas infrastructure, maritime assets, agro-industrial activity, and emerging industrial clusters. Akpabio emphasized that closer collaboration with Dangote Group could unlock opportunities in product distribution, CNG infrastructure, petrochemicals, agriculture, and employment creation.
“As the statutory development body for the South-South, SSDC is committed to driving regional economic development, infrastructure integration, human capital advancement, and private-sector-led growth. We are ready to support state-level policy and regulatory initiatives to ease business operations across our six states, enabling Dangote Group’s expansion into strategic sectors such as gas processing, agro-industrial value chains, renewable energy, logistics, and export-oriented manufacturing,” she said.
