COSEYL, IPOB condemn herdsmen attack on Enugu community, want FG’s intervention

Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, (COSEYL) has condemned what it described as a barbaric attack on Mgbuji community in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State by herdsmen in which eight people were slaughtered and many injured.

A statement made available to Journalists in Enugu by Hon. Goodluck Ibeh, President General and Comrade Kanice Igwe Secretary General of COSEYL, on Thursday called on government to rise up against the menace of herdsmen in the Southeast region.

The group frowned at the silence of the federal government and security agencies against activities of the murderous herdsmen in the region.

The statement read: “The gory story about the attack is that, a pregnant woman was killed by the armed murderous Fulani herdsmen, her stomach opened and foetus removed and president Buhari, the police, the army and other security agencies are quiet because Fulanis must grab land at all cost.

“It is quite unfortunate that the federal government that is saddled with the responsibility of protecting its people against harm and attack are now fully supporting the killers of its citizens because the want to exterminated the people of Mgbuji community and settle murderous Fulani herdsmen in that community and its environs because they are kinsmen of President Muhammadu Buhari on a mission to take over the entire Southern part of the country for the Fulani tribe.

“The invasion of the South East in recent times without the President and security agencies doing anything to arrest the perpetrators and collaborators leaves much to be desired.

“The most troubling aspect is for men of the Nigerian Police who are supposed to arrest the killer Fulani herdsmen for murder turning around to ask the community to sign an undertaking which includes that the community would allocate land to the murderous fulani herdsmen, accept and live together with them whenever they return to the community and that was unacceptable to the community which prompted the police do withhold the corpses of those killed in that community by Fulani herdsmen who are due for burial. It is so pathetic that the police would support the fulani herdsmen for killing the people of that community.

“For the police to openly come to solicit for land, for the killer herdsmen instead of arresting them for crimes committed against humanity means that the know them very well and must produce them for onward prosecution immediately.

“The Police always admonishes citizens to report any criminal elements to the force, now why has the police not arrested the murderous fulani herdsmen who committed murder in broad daylight without even denying of committing the crime. Is the police now crime fighter or supporter?. We leave the answer to them.

“The is no separate constitution or laws for the Fulanis and another for other Nigerians. If there is any , we call on the Attorney General of the Federation,  Abubakar Malami, who is a Fulani man to come forward with such documents and show us.

“The Executive Governor of the state Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who is the Chief Security Officer of the state should stamp his feet on the ground and flush out the murderous Fulani herdsmen terrorising his state.

“The Commissioner of Police, in the state CP Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu has failed woefully in his duty of policing the state and he should be redeployed forthwith.

“Enugu State that is in the hands of God is now in a serious security challenge that needs urgent attention. 

“If the current security situation is not addressed within the next one month, we will stage a 1 million man protest in Enugu State to demand for the immediate resignation of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and a five million man protest match in Abuja to demand for the immediate resignation of President Mohammadu Buhari.”

Meanwhile, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has vowed to deal with the killer herders who attacked the Mgbuji community in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State on Wednesday.

The IPOB disclosed this in a statement signed by its spokesman, Mr Emma Powerful on Thursday, and made available to Journalists in Onitsha, Ananmbra State, wherein it condemned the attacks in Enugu by herders, describing it as unprovoked.

The IPOB accused the Nigerian security agencies of aiding and abetting the genocide against the people of Biafra by jihadists masquerading as herders.

The group, however, said the Eastern Security Network would teach the perpetrators in the language they would understand.

The statement reads, “The same double-faced and Fulani-controlled Nigerian security agencies hunting for the operatives of the Eastern Security Network ESN, are watching Fulani herdsmen as they continue their killing spree across Biafra land.”

“Instead of halting these genocidal attacks against innocent Biafrans, the compromised and complicit Nigeria security agencies take pleasure in hunting and killing our volunteers defending our ancestral land.

“The massacre of innocent Biafrans at Ehamufu in Enugu State Wednesday morning unchallenged by the security agents is another confirmation of the criminal role of the Nigeria security agencies in the evil agenda of the Fulani in Nigeria”.

“We, the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, therefore, want to remind the Fulani jihadists masquerading as herdsmen and their partners in crime that they won’t succeed in Biafra land as long as we exist. Our gallant men will again teach them in the only language they understand. We did it before and they attested to that, and we shall do it again.”

“Since the Nigeria security agencies have chosen to provide cover for known terrorists killing law-abiding and innocent citizens, it has become an existential duty on IPOB to keep defending our ancestral land no matter the cost. The army, police and DSS are quick to use their bombs and tanks against us but look the other way when Fulani jihadists masquerading as Herdsmen embark upon their pillage and massacre of innocent Biafrans.”

“The Enugu state governor and other politicians including traditional rulers have suddenly gone blind, deaf and dumb over the killing of innocent citizens in the state. Where is their forest guard nonsense which he set up obviously to fight ESN?  Where is their ebube monkey joke which their masters compelled them to set up as a counter force against ESN?  Now that pregnant mothers are being killed, their stomach ripped open and the foetus ripped apart where is politicians and stakeholders in the state, the Chief Security officer of Enugu State and all the security apparatus set up?”

“We don’t understand why most politicians and stakeholders are not protecting citizens from Fulani terrorists.”
