Aba Garment Factory to be ready before March 2022 – Ikpeazu

Abia Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has assured that his administration would not relent in its efforts to industrialise the state and rebuild its dilapidated infrastructure.
Ikpeazu who gave the assurance during the Aba Landlords Welfare Association Presidential Luncheon held in Aba, said that the Aba Garment Factory being built by the state government would come on stream by the first quarter of 2022.
The theme of the Luncheon was “Aba Renaissance, The Role Of Contemporary Aba Landlord.”
The Governor announced that he would equally send some Aba tailors to Turkey to learn automated garment making.
He assured that his administration would continue to intervene in the area of infrastructure, stressing that his administration was building roads as an enabler to support development of trade and commerce and SMEs to contribute to the Gross Domestic Product of Aba and Abia in general.
He expressed delight that 90% of the completed road projects built by his administration were still standing and assured that the roads would outlive his administration.
Governor Ikpeazu who assured that the failed Faulks road would bounce back to life as it will soon be fully completed and commissioned while roads around Ndiegoro, Port Harcourt Road, Ohanku, Obohia, Ngwa roads would receive the needed attention within the first quarter of next year.
He charged landlords, residents and business owners in Aba to engage in proper desilting of drainages in their vicinity to ensure adequate maintenance and longer life span of roads in commercial city, urging them to adopt preventive-measure approach in order to protect government assets around them.
Ikpeazu urged the landlords to be vigilant and support the state government’s efforts towards ensuring the security of lives and property of Abia residents and advised them to give information on security threats to the State government in order to sustain the existing peace in the State.
He assured that adequate security would be provided this Yuletide and beyond.
Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, in his speech, noted that under the administration of Governor Ikpeazu, infrastructure, security and industrialization have improved tremendously.
Okiyi equally said that the Governor was not resting on his oars and informed that the Governor has given timeline within which he would complete various ongoing projects in Aba and urged Aba Landlords to support the Governor to complete the projects and deliver them to the people.
Earlier, the President-General, Aba Landlords’ Welfare Association, Chief Acho Nwakanma, disclosed that the objective of the luncheon was to bring their members together to enable them to interface with government, with a view to knowing how to support the government to make Aba better.
Nwakanma noted that Aba was strategically important to the overall growth and sustenance of Abia State and commended the Governor for his significant efforts in rehabilitating Aba’s infrastructure and creating business – friendly environment in the city.
He, however, the former Abia State Deputy Governor made a case for a successful model for refuse management, while calling for a change of attitude among Aba residents in the area of refuse disposal.
He equally appealed to the Governor to set up an electricity bulk trading company that could buy up energy from Alaoji Power Plant and from Geometric and sell directly to Aba so that the city’s power supply needs would be met adequately
