Abductors behead Imo LGA boss, as police say ‘investigation ongoing’
Two days after abducting the Sole Administrator of the Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, Chris Ohizu, the gunmen have beheaded their victim despite collecting a reported N6 million in ransom money.

The incident which has been confirmed by the State Police Command occurred on Sunday, two days after the council boss was abducted by the gunmen at his hometown of Imoko, in Arondizuogu district of the Ideato Council.
The late Ohizu was initially shot by the gunmen in the Friday evening attack and then abducted along with two other people, after they razed his country home in imoko.
A trending video uploaded to the Whatsapp status of the late council boss via his phone, Sunday, confirmed Ohizu’s beheading as his abductors chanted that there will not be any election in the country.
No group has claimed responsibility for the gruesome murder, just as the pro-secession group in the South East region, the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) is yet to react to the shocking incident.
Insecurity has continued to rise in the South East of the country in recent months despite military presence as armed groups said to be affiliated to IPOB have staged armed attacks on state facilities and establishments.
This is also as IPOB has continued to distance itself from these attacks, accusing the armed groups of acting alone.
Spokesperson for the Imo Police Command, Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident, adding that ‘investigation is ongoing.’
