Abia APC: Suspension of Emenike ‘an exercise in futility,’ says party chieftain

Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Engr. Alozie Mac Solomon, has described as ridiculous and an exercise in futility, the purported suspension of High Chief Ikechi Emenike, from the party.
In a statement in Umuahia made available to The Oracle Today, Solomon said those who met to “reaffirm” the purported suspension may have forgotten that High Chief Ikechi Emenike’s suspension has since been lifted by the party.
Party bigwigs who met last week Thursday, at an expanded Caucus meeting at the house of a former member of the House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Atuma, had announced that the party has reaffirmed the suspension of Emenike, a foremost stalwart of APC in Abia, for alleged anti-party activities.
The meeting chaired by Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uche Ogah, standing in for Senate Whip, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, reaffirmed Emenike’s suspension through a unanimous voice vote, after the state party chairman, Chief Donatus Nwankpa, was said to have announced that Emenike has been suspended.
The expanded Caucus held that Emenike had already been suspended by his ward for anti-party activities, with the local government and state executives ratifying same. It was not stated, however, when the suspension took place.
Reacting to the purported suspension, Solomon accused Nwankpa of being oblivious of the fact the he had himself announced the lifting of Emenike’s suspension almost three years ago, in the build up to the 2019 polls.
“The news of the purported, concocted and imaginary suspension of the highly respected Abia APC leader, High Chief Ikechi Emenike, is not only laughable but also a case of abject forgetfulness,” Solomon asserted in his statement.
“Otherwise, how can one explain a situation where Mr Donatus Nwamkpa, who claims to be chairman of a political party, forget so soon that he was same person who announced the lifting of the same purported suspension on the 21st of September, 2018, at a Press Conference ahead of 2019 electioneering,” he queried.
“It’s very unfortunate and sad, that a man like him will be speaking from both sides of his mouth, at a time our party is in a dire need for men of character and honour,” Solomon added.
He advised the party faithful in Abia to rally round Emenike if APC hopes to wrest power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party come 2023.
