
Abia begins conversion of waste to wealth soon, shopping for partnership – Otti

Abia State government is making progress in its mission of achieving conversion of waste to wealth, Governor Alex Otti has revealed.

In his Monthly Media Chat held last Thursday at Banquet Hall of Government House, Governor Otti rated very high, the performance of Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) in waste management since his administration came to power, saying that the state was now at the point of receiving proposals from that could convert waste to wealth.
The Governor said the state was taking proactive steps to convert waste to wealth and disclosed that there is an ongoing partnerships with private individuals and organizations to transform waste into useful resources, including Electricity generation.
“In the area of Waste Management, we have continued to work to keep our state clean. I think in the last 20 months, we have gotten to the point of getting into proper waste management and conversion of waste to wealth.
“We are at the point where we are taking proposals and we are going through them to determine who we will partner with so that all the rubbish we are carting away can be converted into useful outcomes like generation of power and things of that nature.

“Suffice it to say that Abia State Environmental Protection Agency has done very well because we are no longer described as the dirtiest state and I urge the Agency to do more“, he said.
Recall that ASEPA, Umuahia Zone, introduced house-to-house refuse collection and promised to procure more buckets for carting away refuse in the Abia capital city to make it cleaner.
