Abia establishes Sports Academy, Abia Youth Skills Acquisition Centre

Abia state Government has approved the establishment of the Abia State Sports Academy to be located at the former Nsulu Games Village in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of the state.
The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Dr. Eze Chikamnayo, made this known while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State’s Executive Council Meeting.
Chikamnayo said the venue would also house the Abia Youth Skills Acquisition Centre earlier approved by the Council and announced the setting up of an inter-ministerial committee to midwife the actualization of the project.
He said in a bid to ensure standard certification of artisans and apprenticeship, the EXCO equally announced the establishment of the Abia State Entrepreneurship Development Institute to be handled by the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises.
The government equally warned illegal occupants of the Ayaba Umueze Palm Oil Nursery to immediately vacate the area or face the full weight of the law.
The Information Commissioner also said that the Council has approved that the 2022 Abia Day be celebrated on 30th of August instead of 27th and revealed that a lot of projects have been lined up for commissioning as part of activities marking the event.
