Abia will become production capital of Africa if I become governor, Ukpai tells Abians
A governorship aspirant in Abia State on the platform of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Dr. Ukpai Iro Ukpai, has promised to make Abia the production capital of Africa, using technology, as he urged Abians “to cry no more.”
Ukpai made the pronouncement Tuesday while formally declaring his intention to contest for the governorship position in Abia State in 2023.
Ukpai told party faithful at the Bende Road party office in Umuahia that technology would drive the pillars of his administration if Abians give him their mandate to “redeem and rescue” the state.
“Today, the 24th of May (2022) is the day that I am in the presence of Abians to declare my intention to run for Governor of Abia State. And this is a very important day. And we are telling Abians they should cry no more.
“We are coming, by the power of God, for redemption of the state and her rescue. We have all it takes. We will breathe on Abia, freshness, and there will be a rejoicing by the time we are here in Abia State on May 29, 2023. Carry it to every nook and cranny of our state, redemption has come and rescue has come,” the governorship aspirant said..
He said the core pillars of his administration “will be the redemption pillar that is both divine and human; and a rescue pillar that is actually underpinned by human capacity.”
“We have the team to be able to deliver on those pillars. Every Abian will be involved but my team that I am assembling across board will do a great work that Abians will be proud to be called Abians again.
“Three things that will drive these goodies that I am talking about is technology, technology and technology. So Abians should expect this place to be a technology city and then we are going to be the production capital of Africa,” the Asaga Ohafia-born governorship aspirant told the crowd.
He promised that his administration would create massive jobs, ensure food security, wholesome security, secure education and secure health.
While encouraging the party faithful and his supporters to get their Permanent Voter Cards to vote in NNPP in the 2023 general elections, the NNPP guber aspirant urged party members to be committed to the cause of redeeming the state, come 2023.
Earlier, the Abia State NNPP Chairman, Mr. Ogaranya Ifemeje, had described NNPP as a credible alternative for Abians, saying that the party was coming to correct and improve on the perceived areas the current administration has not performed optimally.
