Afenifere restates support for Peter Obi, says South East deserves Presidency in 2023
Pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, has restated its earlier support for the candidacy of the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the upcoming 2023 elections, Dr Peter Obi.
In a series of tweets posted via his verified Twitter handle (@PaAdebanjo), Monday, leader of Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, reiterated that the South-East region deserves the chance since it is yet to produce the President for the country since the return to democracy in 1999.
The Afenifere chieftain revealed his support for a power shift to the region, while slamming Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), for sabotaging the electoral process through monetary inducements.
“Atiku and Tinubu are not qualified to contest this coming 2023 election. I support power shift to the southeast….My support for Peter Obi is based on principle.
“Anyone with superior arguments should come forward and let us dissect it together.
“I stand firm on the position of Afenifere on power rotation. Those who accept Naira and Dollar from (Tinubu) can say what they like, but they should attack me on justice and equity,” Pa Adebanjo tweeted.
