Director-General of Global Awareness for Public Safety Foundation (GAPS), Apostle Chuks Alozie, has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support to the Michael Okpara Foundation to realize its dream of build a leadership training institute that would be named after the Premier of Eastern Nigeria, late Dr. Michael Iheonukara Okpara.
Apostle Alozie named other notable Nigerians who have contributed immensely to the Foundation to help it to realize the proposed Michael Okpara Leadership Institute to include a former Nigerian first Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, Imo State Governor. Sen. Hope Uzodinma, Cross River State Governor. Sen. Bassey Otu, Prince Arthur Eze and Senator Ned Nwoko, amongst others.
The Man of God who was in Abuja to grace the recent Michael Okpara Foundation Leadership Lecture, told newsmen that grooming future leaders in the mould of the legendary late Dr. Michael Okpara would serve as an antidote to the festering leadership-induced problems plaguing the country.
“Investing in agriculture, Industrialization, infrastructural development, as well as equal opportunity in grooming leaders, as exhibited by the likes of Dr. Okpara and others, would help to reduce agitations, foster economic growth, engender peace and fortify security in all corners of Nigeria,” the Apostle opined.
He stressed on the importance of immortalizing those who have shown exemplary leadership which brought about economic transformation and social tranquility in the polity such as Dr M.I. Okpara.
“The institute, when established, will provide immeasurable support and great opportunities for grooming of future leaders in the virtues of forthrightness, simplicity, humanism, knowledge and how to become a servant-leader as exhibited by Dr. Okpara while serving as Premier of Eastern Region,” Apostle Alozie noted, adding that the proposed leadership institute “is a welcome development.”
He urged the people of the defunct Eastern Region who benefitted immensely from Dr. Okpara’s selfless service not to allow the dream of the Michael Okpara Foundation of building the leadership institute to die.
“I therefore call on all Nigerians, especially those of Old Eastern Region, to emulate other great Nigerians who desire the continuity of the good leadership style of the man, late Dr. M.I Okpara to extend their support to the Michael Okpara Foundation to enable it to actualize the leadership institute,” he appealed.
He commended the Chairman, Chief Uzodinma Okpara, and members of Michael Okpara Foundation for believing in and understanding the need to sustain the leadership style of the late sage and pledged his organization’s collaboration with the Foundation.
