Alumni set to construct ultra-modern hall for Eko Boys High School
The Eko Boys High School Old Boys Association (EKOBA) is scheduled to build an ultra-modern, built for purpose hall at the School premises in Mushin.
A statement from the Association disclosed that the Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo is scheduled to turn the first sod of the new Hall project on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. She will be accompanied by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry Mr. Abayomi Abolaji and the Tutor General, Education District VI, Mrs Oludara Okelola.
The statement enumerated further that the School ultra modern hall project being championed by EKOBANA, the North American branch of EKOBA in collaboration with branches in Europe and Nigeria is in part fulfillment of the Association’s pledge to support the Lagos State Government in returning the one hundred and nine (109) year old school to its past glory of being among the elite schools in Nigeria.
Founded on January 13, 1913 by Late Revd. William Benjamin Euba, Eko Boys High School (EBHS) was the first, indigenous, non-denominational secondary school in Nigeria that revolutionised mass, quality and affordable education to disadvantaged and underprivileged children in Lagos and environs.
.EBHS according to the statement has produced prominent Nigerians including Oba Adeyinka Oyekan of Lagos, General Adeyinka Adebayo, Justice Muri Okunola, Dr. Olusola Saraki and Chief Idowu Sofola, SAN all of blessed memory.
Others include, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, Esama of Benin Kingdom and Engr. Adeniji Raji, Chairman, EKOBA Board of Trustees.
The statement posited that the School Hall is one of several interventions being undertaken by EKOBA in support of the Lagos State Government to enhance the quality of facilities and learning in Eko Boys High School in order to continue the tradition of producing great and positively influential graduates.
The turning of the first sod of the ultra-modern school hall is expected to be witnessed by many old students in Nigeria and representatives of EKOBA North America and Europe.
