Anambra: 2 die, 14 buses burnt in petrol tanker accident

At least, two persons have been confirmed dead, and about 14 buses were burnt as tanker laden with inflammable product suspected to be petrol fell at Ogidi, in Anambra State, Sunday evening.
A source also said several other persons were also injured, even as people’s property worth millions of naira were reportedly burnt in the fuel tanker fire.
The tanker was said to have fell into a drainage and sparked fire.
An eye witness told our Correspondent that the tanker was stationary when a trailer that reportedly lost control, rammed into it.
Confirming the incident, Chief Fire Officer in the State, Engr. Martin Agbili confirmed the incident, adding that human lives and property had been lost to the inferno.
Agbili said explained that the fire would spread badly if not for the quick response of his team.
“As soon as we were alerted, I deployed my men who stormed the scene with five fire trucks to battle the fire which lasted for several hours.
“The buses affected in the incident were those within the area. We thank God we were able to contain the fire.
