Anambra 2021: Time to be circumspect of who becomes the next governor
By Christian Aburime

The November 6, Anambra governorship election provides a golden opportunity for Ndi-Anambra to take their destiny in their hands by ensuring the moneybags politicians are kept at bay and not allowed to hijack the machinery of governance, and in the process take the state back to the years of mis-governance and unproductivity
The world is experiencing so many uncertainties and at the same time moving at a fast pace. Everyone has woken up to the sad realisation of this fact.
The result is that the global economy has taken a whole new direction with the disruptive effects of covid-19 pandemic and its unpalatable tolls on virtually all the countries in the world.
Nations are therefore looking for survival strategies to escape the after-effects of the pandemic and beyond.
In the bargain, a new world order is evolving. And it’s coming upon us fast and everyone must brace up for it.
With these gloomy pictures, Anambra appears lucky. If not extremely lucky! The state and indeed, Ndi Anambra have the uncommon fortune of having a distinguished son in the person of Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo. A man that needs no formal introduction.
An analyst while speaking on the candidates vying for the November 6, Anambra guber race had enumerated the core essence of Soludo as follows;
He said the man Soludo does not need further introduction. He is a household name in Nigeria.
A professor of Economics, he was unarguably, the most successful Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria ever. He has travelled far and wide and has consulted for many renowned global institutions.
Currently is a member of the Economic Advisory Council, a national think-thank set up by the Federal Government to advise it on economic matters
To the analyst, Soludo has what it takes to take Anambra state to the next level.
He affirmed that none of those jostling for the position of governorship is a match to Soludo’s intellectual prowess, competence, capacity and sound knowledge of the economy.
He went further to say that Anambra will experience uncommon transformation if Soludo moves to Agu-Awka. He confidently asserted that there may not be need for anyone to go to Dubai for holiday by the time Soludo is through with Anambra.
This analyst may be completely right in his honest appraisal of Soludo. The critical fact still remains that the onus lies with Ndi Anambra in making these assertions come to reality.
With the current realities on ground, and the massive support Soludo enjoys from the people of Anambra, it is almost looking certain that Soludo holds the ace in the coming election!
Therefore, to all the political parties and the good people of Anambra state, this is indeed the time to be circumspect of who becomes the next Chief Executive Officer of the state, as Anambra cannot afford to go back to the days of the cabal and mis-governance !!!
