Anambra Govt demolishes kidnappers’ den in Oba

Anambra State Government has demolished a bungalow in Oba in Idemili South local government suspected to be a hideout of some kidnappers operating in the state.
The State Joint Security Task Force conducted the demolition exercise on Friday.
The house was alleged to be the hideout of the kidnappers who abducted four persons in Oko in Orumba South local government and Ekwulobia in Aguata Local government Area.
A member of the gang simply identified as Emeka, it was gathered, led the police to the house and after raiding it, a locally made pistol, shrine, charms, concoctions, indian hemp, among other incriminating materials were recovered.
Some arrests, it was gathered, were also made by the Police.
Their gang leader identified as Chinedu Ajogu, alias Sampolo had earlier been killed in a gun battle with the police while some of the gang members escaped with bullet wounds.
Addressing journalists at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, commended the efforts of the State Joint Security Task Force, saying, the demolition exercise would serve as a deterrent to other criminals.
Soludo explained that it was established that the building demolished was being used as a den for criminal activities, adding that government policy would not allow any criminality to reign in the state.
He warned that henceforth, criminals would have no place in any part of Anambra state, assuring that his government was fully determined to ensure that the state was safe for everyone.
He also applauded the cooperation of some people in the state who l,. according to him, has been volunteering information helping the state to tackle criminals.
Soludo further emphasized that any building being used for any criminal activities would be brought down and confiscated by government.
He called on the people to be security cautious at all times, by reporting strangers and criminals operating in their communities to security agencies.
