APC chieftain blasts Wike over boastful comment ahead of 2027 election
…Says Wike insensitive to plight of hungry ravaged Nigerians
From Chris EZE, Port Harcourt
Former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New PDP (nPDP) and a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, (APC ) in Rivers State, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze has come hard on the minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike over the Minister’s boastful comment that nobody can challenge his team during the 2027 elections.
Wike who is the immediate past governor of Rivers State has been locked in a fierce power tussle with the incumbent governor of the state, Siminalayi Fubara who incidentally was installed by the FCT minister.
The power tussle which has so far defied all efforts to resolution has polarized the followership of PDP in the state into Wike versus Fubara camps causing tension and anxiety in the state.
At a recent event in the state, Wike who was apparently alluding to the face-off between his camp and that of Gov. Fubara boasted that his team would be unstoppable in 2027 which could imply that they would unseat Gov. Fubara.
But reacting to the Minister’s outbursts in a statement on Wednesday, Chief Eze said Wike’s “Mannerisms at this trying times is ridiculous, insensitive, callous, careless, unfortunate and attempt to incite the angry and hungry Nigerians against Tinubu’s administration”
Eze added “Today, Nigerians are eating from the dustbin while in Lagos, Nigerians are being treated like animals while struggling for a hundred Naira loaf of bread and two tubers of yam but to Wike what matters most is how to rig the 2027 general elections. May God have pity on him…”
The fiery critic noted that it smacks of ridicule and manifest insensitivity to the plight of Nigerians who have been reduced to the status of hunger-stricken refugees in their own land, for the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike to begin to talk about 2027 elections and how no one can challenge him in Rivers State at the polls when the administration under which he serves has thrown the country into the darkest period of economic woes in the annals of her history.
“It is ridiculous that while many Nigerians are dying in droves because of the hardship facing us as a nation, an opportunist like Chief Nyesom Wike the incumbent Minister of FCT in the Thanksgiving Service in honour of Senator Barinada Mpigi would be talking about 2027 general elections and how nobody will be in position to challenge him and his Group.”
According to the APC chieftain, with the confidence the FCT Minister spoke on how he intends to ‘ rig” elections in 2027, it is either the former Governor no longer operates from Nigeria or must be operating either from the Moon or the Sun not to observe the level of protests all over the country or the Collapse of the naira or the failure of our economy and the attendant hunger ravaging Nigerians.
Eze said given the reality on ground, Nigeria has become a ” living hell on earth ” as food, cement, fuel prices continue to hit the roof. He said following the exorbitant cost of rice, garri, beans and other food items, Nigerians now go to bed each night hungry and these reality should concern any reasonable Nigerian who is part of the government of the day like Nyesom Wike – the FCT Minister.
“As at the time Wike was making his outlandish utterances a liter of fuel was sold at N720, a bag of rice for N75,000, a basin of Ikwerre Garri N12,000 and N12,000 for a bag of cement.
“It calls for concern that in situation of economic hardship such that we have fallen into, where 46 Professors and others in UNIABUJA, FUTminna according to ASUU died due to attendant hardship, valueless opportunists like Wike would be talking about elections without being mobbed”. Eze pushed.
While urging citizens to continue in prayers with hope that things will get better, Eze called on Nigerians to be wary of Wike as a common enemy who do not mean well for the country and her people.
