APC disowns parallel congresses conducted by states
All Progressives Congress (APC) has disowned last week’s parallel Local Government Congresses conducted in some states, as the ruling party described them as ‘futile.’
National Secretary of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC),
John Akpanudoedehe, who said this, Monday, noted that the APC set up committees that had conducted the nationwide exercise, which he described as successful.
He said the next step will be an appeal process that will allow anyone with issues to formally present their complaints.
Udoedehe recalled that the party informed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the schedule of APC congresses.
“We wrote to INEC stating names of people to conduct the congresses and the venue. We also announced the time of the congress and informed security agencies.
“If you move away from the organization stipulated by INEC and set up something outside, it is no more APC”, he said.
