Araraume’s son joins PDP, decries ‘unfortunate’ treatment meted out to father by APC
Ifeanyi Araraume Jr, the son of former Chairman of the Board of the NNPC Ltd, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, has announced his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State.
Araraume Jr who also announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC), was however, coy on the political future of his father Araraume Snr, even as he admitted that the latter has been badly treated by the ruling party culminating in his removal from the Board of the NNPC Ltd barely a few months after appointment.
Araraume Jr, a former Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Tourism during the Governor Rochas Okorocha’s administration in Imo State, who announced this after a local government emergency meeting held at the PDP State Headquarters Owerri, Imo state, promised to support the party leaders to ensure that the becomes victorious in the 2023 election.
“Yesterday, I officially joined PDP in my ward and today I proceeded to the LGA.
“Today, I officially joined the PDP in my Ward. In everything I have done, I have tried my best never to be found wanting. I hope it remains so in this new journey.
“My joining PDP was my choice and I believe I’m coming to add value. By the grace of God, we will all work hard for the party to be victorious.
“I will do my best to elevate the party in Isiala Mbano and the state,” Araraume Jr said.
On the political future of his father, a chieftain of the APC in the state, Araraume Jr said: “I cannot speak for him. He is a very experienced politician but the treatment he got from the APC was most unfortunate.”
