Armed robbers wreak havoc on banks, suspected kidnappers nabbed, as police arrest fake Rev. Sister for child trafficking
Armed robbers in their scores stormed some commercial banks operating in Ankpa Town, in the Ankpa local government area of Kogi State, Monday, as police failed to respond to distress calls set off by the institutions’ alarms.
The robbers reportedly stormed the selected banks numbering over 20 in various vehicles, including buses, and heavily armed at about 3pm, Tuesday, to wreak havoc on the affected offices.
However, the extent of cash stolen was not disclosed as the police were yet to officially confirm the incident.
Premises of the affected banks, identified as Zenith bank and First Bank, were riddled with bullet holes in the aftermath of the invasion by the robbers, who reportedly operated unchecked for over one hour.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Command has rescued 15 children kidnapped from a child trafficking ring in Port Harcourt, said to be led by a fake Reverend Sister.

The Command also paraded the fake reverend sister who is believed to be at the centre of the child trafficking ring in the state.
The CP said the suspect would be charged to court, adding that investigations are ongoing as some of the children have been reunited with their parents.
Also, police in Ogun State have arrested three suspected kidnappers in a forest along Imeko/Iwoye-Ketu road.
The trio, Aliu Abubakar (29 years), Umaru Tukur (24 years) and Yau Isah (25 years) were nabbed during a rescue operation carried out by the police on August 29.
The armed men, numbering about eight, had on the said day blocked Termac/Iwoye road and shot sporadically.
Police said they had information that the hoodlums had injured one Bode Ogunleye and Muhammad Basa while abducting Alhaji Fatai Abdulsalam, Alhaji Dauda Orelope and Alhaji Rafiu Isah.
In a statement, Tuesday, the state police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said ‘upon the receipt of the distress call, the DPO of Imeko division had mobilized his men and those of the Amotekun corps, the So safe corps, hunters, vigilantes as well as Fulani/Yoruba youths and stormed the forest in search of the victims and their abductors.’
