ASOPADEC GM charges firm to live up to corporate responsibilities

The General Manager of Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC), Dr. Joshua Onyeike has charged the Millenuim Oil and Gas Company in Ozaa, Ukwa West LGA of Abia State, to prioritize its corporate responsibilities to enable its host community and people to benefit from their crude oil endowment.
Dr. Onyeike who gave the charge during an interactive meeting with representatives of the Company in his office in Umuahia, said the essence of the meeting was to know the scope of operational activities of the firm and the developmental packages the company has for the State and host community.
The General Manager pointed explained that part of the responsibility of his Commission to ensure that oil companies operating in the communities in the state promptly remit proceeds from their operations to appropriate authorities, and as well, impact positively on lives of the people.
He assured the firm of the Commission’s readiness to partner with them for the good of the community and the State at large but notified the company that he would be submitting the community’s needs soon.
However, the ASOPADEC boss demanded data of the company’s remittances to the Nigeria Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) from 2019 till date.
In his speech, the Operations Manager of the Company, Mr. Kingsley Etok-Akpan, who joined the meeting through Zoom as he was not physically present due to ill-health, said the company has been living up to her responsibilities in remittances, promised to provide data of their operations and assured that the Company would strive to maintain cordial relationship with the host community, the Commission and the State, in general.
Also speaking, the Head Government Interface Department of the company, Mr. Chukwudozie Okeafor, accompanied by another staff of the Company, Mr Okoli Michael, thanked the Commission for their efforts in ensuring cordial working relations with the company and promised to reciprocate the gesture.
According to the ASOPADEC’s Head, Media/Public Relations Officer, Comrade Iyke Onuegbu, highlight of the meeting was an interactive session with representatives of the company and Management staff of the Commission.
