Axxela made this pledge during a visit to Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos House, Marina.

Through one of its subsidiaries, Gaslink Nigeria Limited, Axxela said it has pioneered private-sector natural gas distribution. The company stated that the projects significantly expanded gas infrastructure in Lagos by over 170 kilometers spanning key industrial hubs, including Ikeja, Ilupeju, Isolo, Ijora, Apapa, Tin Can, Victoria Island, and Eko Atlantic.

With ongoing expansion into the Victoria Island-Lekki corridor, the company says it is boosting energy access, supporting industrial growth, and advancing decarbonization efforts with a cleaner and cheaper energy alternative in Lagos.

Axxela stated that its extensive natural gas network has attracted new industries and continued to enable existing businesses to thrive, drive economic growth and increase tax revenues for public infrastructure investment.

Beyond gas distribution, Axxela said it has demonstrated immense capacity in power development by building Independent Power Projects (IPP) for the Lagos State Government in Akute, Alausa, and Lagos Island, and more recently, a 5.8 MW for Cadbury Nigeria.

Welcoming the Axxela Management team, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed the state government’s readiness to foster a business-friendly environment for investors. He reiterated Lagos State’s dedication to supporting enterprises like Axxela in their efforts to enhance energy infrastructure and sustainability.

Managing Director of Axxela Gas Distribution, Kehinde Alabi, stated, “We take pride in driving energy security and significantly contributing to Lagos State’s energy hub. Lagos is strategic to our business, and our initiatives are directly supporting industrialisation and promoting environmental sustainability. Our goal is to continue to collaborate with the state government to bridge the energy gap. Our AGI facility in Ikeja and expansion along the VI-Lekki corridor reflect our commitment to sustainable energy solutions that empower industries and reduce carbon emissions.”

Beyond its core energy operations, Axxela stated it actively invests in numerous social impact initiatives, partnering with LASPARK on its annual tree planting programmes, and has supported education through its Back-to-School Scholarship Initiative which has benefited hundreds of students from host communities.

The Oracle Today reports that Axxela Limited, a company co-owned by Helios Investment Partners LLP and Sojitz Corporation, is the pioneer private sector developer of natural gas solutions and captive power generation in Nigeria.

The company is also a designated natural gas shipper on the West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP) and a member West African Power Pool (WAPP) which delivers natural gas to about 200 industrial and commercial customers through a vast natural gas infrastructure network.

With subsidiaries like Gaslink Nigeria Limited, Gas Network Services Limited, Central Horizon Gas Company Limited, and Transit Gas Nigeria Limited over 360 kilometers of natural gas pipeline infrastructure built; Axxela provides unique energy solutions to a variety of private, corporate and industrial clients across the country.
