[From CHRIS EZE, Yenagoa]
Bayelsa House of Assembly has commended the Executive arm of government for prudent management of the resources of the state.
The lawmakers made the commendation Friday during the oversight visit of the House Committee on Information and Orientation to the Media Village Project in Yenagoa.
Chairman, House Committee on Information and Orientation, Hon. Barr. Tare Porri who spoke at the occasion said they were satisfied that monies appropriated by the House are being so prudently expended and commended the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure and that of Information for the good job they are doing on the Media Village.
Porri and other members also praised Governor Diri for the extent of work done on the project in spite of the limited resources, and enjoined all Bayelsans to support the Prosperity Administration to actualize its vision for the state.
In his remarks, Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Ayuba Duba expressed gratitude to the Committee for the visit, noting that the project would not have been embarked upon if the House had not appropriated funds for it.
The Commissioner also commended Amapu – Pere Nigeria Limited, the contractors handling the project, describing them as a “shining example of what an indigenous contractor should be”. He appealed to other indigenous contractors to emulate them.
Hon. Duba further informed the Committee that what they came to see was the first phase of the project, stressing that fruitful partnership between the legislature and the Executive arm would continue even as the project progresses to the next stage.
Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Moses Teibowei who was also on ground to receive the lawmakers said that with the governor’s passion for development, no contract so far awarded has stalled, adding that of the 20 internal roads in Yenagoa metropolis promised by the government, 17 have been awarded, while five have been completed.
