
Beheaded Abia LP chieftain was killed at drinking joint-Police

Gory details of the killing and beheading of a Labour Party (LP) Chieftain in Abia State have emerged.
Information pieced together about the chilling incident indicate that Mr. Maduka Zachary, popularly called “Power Zac” the Labour Party Campaign Director-General during the 2023 general elections in Uturu, Isuikwuato local government area of Abia State, was not only hacked to death Wednesday night by a group of hoodlums but his assailants beheaded him and bolted away with his head.
Power Zac, who was also the Campaign Director of the House of Representatives member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Chief Amobi Ogah, according to sources in Uturu, was in company of friends and associates at a relaxation spot in his Akpukpa community of Uturu, when hoodlums numbering about 10 struck at about 8 pm.
The yet-to-be identified invaders started shooting on arriving the joint, forcing people to flee in different directions for safety.
It was gathered that Power Zac, the head of the community’s vigilante, tried to resist the hoodlums but later took to his heals upon discovering that the hoodlums would overpower him due to their number.
His assailants were said to have given him a hot chase, cutting him with matchetes till they hacked him down and chopped off his head, leaving his lifeless body in a pool of blood.
The Abia State Police Command has confirmed the bizarre incident of the beheading of the 70-year old LP Chieftain.
The Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Abia State Police Command, ASP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, in a statement on Thursday said Power Zack, a vigilante leader, was killed at a drinking joint in the community. The incident, the PPRO said, happened on Wednesday at about 8:30pm.
“Mr. Nmaduka was violently attacked, shot, and beheaded by unidentified assailants while he was at a drinking joint in Amelechi Akpukpa Community.
“Upon receiving this distressing information, a joint team comprising Police and army personnel was swiftly dispatched to the scene. “Tragically, they recovered Mr. Nmaduka’s lifeless body.
“Photographic evidence was captured at the scene, and the deceased’s remains were promptly evacuated and deposited at Marist Mortuary Uturu,” she said.
According to her, the Police have launched investigation into the gory killing of the LP chief.
