Binani beats Ribadu, 5 other men in Adamawa APC guber primary
Senator representing the Adamawa Central district in the National Assembly, Aishatu Binani, emerged strong in the just concluded gubernatorial primaries in the state where she beat six male opponents to pick the ticket of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Senator Binani is now positioned to potentially become the first female governor in the conservative Muslim northern Nigeria. She would also be the second female guber candidate on the platform of a major party.
Senator Binani scored 430 votes in the APC primaries in Yola on Friday to beat former Adamawa Governor, Jibrilla Bindow; former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu, and four other men.
She will now contend with the incumbent Governor Ahmadu Fintiri who won a second term ticket in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries on Wednesday.
