BREAKING: LP’s Alex Otti wins Abia guber election

Labour Party (LP) candidate, Dr. Alex Otti, has been declared the winner of the Abia State governorship election held on Saturday, March 18, 2023.
The Returning Officer for Abia State governorship election, Prof. Nnenna Otti, who announced the result of the election, said that Otti polled 175, 467votes to beat his closest opponent, Chief Okey Ahiwe of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who scored … votes
Otti secured victories in 10 local government areas, while Ahiwe won in six ocal governments, including the contentious Obingwa local government. Also, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) won in the Osisioma home council of its candidate, Engr. Enyinnaya Nwafor.
The Returning Officer anounced that the winner, Otti, satisfied the constitutional requirements by winning in two-thirds of the 17 local government areas and pronounced him the governor-elect of Abia State.
Collation of the governorship election result was suspended on Monday, March 20, 2023 due to the disagreement generated by the collation of Obingwa governorship election result.
The national headquarters of INEC intervened, did a review of the Obingwa governorship election result at Abuja on Tuesday and directed it’s officials in Abia to proceed with the collation and conclusion of the process today, Wednesday, March 22, 2023.
