Buhari appoints substantive Accountant-General of the Federation
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Mrs. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, as the new Accountant General of the Federation.
The approval came following the successful conduct of a selection process to fill the existing vacancy.
Madein was born on March 7, 1965 in Iperu Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State, and until her appointment, she was the Director of Finance and Accounts in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
It will be recalled that the Economic and financial Crime Commission (EFCC) had cleared 20 directors drawn from different Ministries, Departments and Agencies to take part in the process leading to the filling of the vacancy.
The vacancy resulted from the arrest of former AGF, Ahmed Idris, in July 2022, by the EFCC over the alleged misappropriation of N109billion and his subsequent suspension and prosecution.
The 20 shortlisted candidates that took part in the process are Danladi Comfort, Gombe (Interior); Mohammed Yar’Abba, Sokoto (Fire Service); Mufutau Bukola, Oyo (Transportation); Mahmud Kambari, Borno (North East Development Commission); Mohammed Dojo, Gombe (Interior); and Waziri Samuel, Borno (Agriculture and Rural Development).
