Buhari goes into self-isolation over Covid-19 exposure
Following suspected exposure to the Coronavirus (Covid-19), President Muhammadu Buhari may have proceeded on a mandatory self-isolation on his return from the United Kingdom.
President Buhari and some government officials are believed to have been exposed to the virus when they came in contact with staff of the country’s High Commission in the United Kingdom.
Some of the High Commission officials have already tested positive for the virus.
Senior Special Assistant to the President, Garba Shehu confirmed the development, saying it is in line with the Nigeria Centre for Disease and Control (NCDC) health management protocol for international travel.
Buhari returned from the UK, last weekend after an 18-day trip for medical and other official assignments, according to the State House.
“Mr President and all of those on his delegation will be isolated in line with NCDC guidelines for international travel,” confirmed Garba.
He also revealed that the President and all those who accompanied him on the trip did the mandatory PCR test on Friday August 13, and will undergo the second test days later.
