Buhari not aware of state of emergency threat on Anambra, says Gov. Obiano
Anambra Governor, Chief Willie Obiano says the widely-reported claims of an impending state-of-emergency threat from the Presidency, did not originate from President Muhammadu Buhari.
Obiano, who said this, Wednesday, while speaking with State House Correspondents after meeting with President Buhari in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, described the threat as unfortunate.
It would be recalled that Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, had, Tuesday, warned that the Federal Government was ready to impose a state of emergency in Anambra over rising violence and high-profile killings in the state in recent weeks.
Obiano expressed surprised as to how the AGF Malami, had not contemplated the imposition of emergency rule in states where there had been a lot of killings.
“I also reported that to the President and this is not in the books of the President because he knows that Anambra has been the safest state in Nigeria for seven years plus,” he said.
Obiano said he would still call Malami to challenge him concerning the threat.
