The deceased popularly known as ‘Satoo’ was found dead along a village stream where he went to bathe.

It was learnt that the deceased was accompanied to the village stream to take a bath by one of his close friends after playing football at the Obio Akpa primary school field on Sunday morning.

It was gathered that the deceased never returned from the stream as his naked body inflicted with  bruises was later discovered by the water side.

Our correspondent gathered that a phone call from an unknown person alerted the family of the decease’s death, as the caller informed Bassey’s wife that her husband’s body was laying down near the stream.

An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent that on receipt of the phone call, a search party was conducted and the corpse of the dead man was found by the village stream.

He stated that the family of Bassey was surprised that the friend who accompanied him to the stream never returned to the family to inform relatives of how he died.

“Friends and close relatives gathered immediately and mobilized a search team to the village stream where the body was found dead, but with wounds all over the body showing that he was beaten until he died.

“The family is shocked that the friend never came back to the family to tell us what happened that took the life of his friend,” he stated.
