Calabar Archdiocese of Methodist Church gets new Archbishop

Most Rev. Chimezuo O. N. Nwankpa has emerged the new Archbishop of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Archdiocese Of Calabar.
Most Rev. Nwankpa was officially enthroned by the Prelate of the Church, His Eminence, Dr. Samuel Emeka Kanu Uche at the Wesley Cathedral of the Church in Calabar.
Speaking after the enthronement, the Prelate said he is happy that the challenges faced by the diocese has been addressed.
In his words, “I feel very happy, fulfilled and excited because there was some challenges and things fell apart Soni had to do some adjustments so as to bring sanity.
“We have restored sanity and you can see how happy the people are”, he said.
He disclosed that within the year, he will be at Okigwe, Uyo and Port Harcourt to also new archbishops.
He also stressed that they are committed to growing the church spiritually by preaching the word of God, numerically by the souls which will be won, financially because evangelism demands money and also in infrastructure.
On empowerment, he said the church has trained over 2000 youths in Akwa Ibom state on various vocations to make them self reliant.
Also speaking, Senator Florence Ita Giwa urged the new Archbishop to try and restore dignity of the church and bring back the confidence the people had in the past.
She said the church is the last hope of the common man and advised that politics should not be brought into the church.
On his party Sir Professor Okon Bassey, the Chairman of the Planning Committee for the enthronement said he is happy because the turmoil has ended.
He said the coming of a neutral person will bring peace, harmony and the church can move forward.
In his sermon themed; ‘Prepare for the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,’ the 7th Arch Bishop of the Calabar Archdiocese The Most Rev. Chimezuo O. N. Nwankpa said as christians we should be ready to go anywhere God sends us.
He said as Christians, we should be a solution to the scarcity of love, development, peace by speaking life giving words.
He pledged to see to the spiritual growth of the cathedral and also ensure that the four points address of the prelate is carried out.
