Chevron to sell headquarters, relocate from San Ramon to Texas

America energy multinational, Chevron, has declared intention to relocate from its registered head office in East Bay area of San Ramon to another location in Houston, Texas.
Reason is that Chevron Corporation plans to sell the Bay Area headquarters as it pares down its office space. The company which expects to move from its existing headquarters in late 2023 said it will now lease a smaller office space in the Bay Area.
Chevron’s Bay Area headquarters has been declining in role and activity after the company began reorganization in 2019.
The relocation will come with administrative changes which would also require personnel of the company willing to continue in the job to also relocate with the company.
The company has offered employees willing to relocate to Houston payments to cover the cost of movement.
Chevron has had its base in the Bay Area since the late 1800s. It moved hundreds of employees to San Ramon in 1999, and in 2001 made that the company’s headquarters.
Chevron occupies the former Enron Corp. headquarters in Houston where it now employs about 6,000 people, approximately three times as many workers as in its San Ramon headquarters.

Chevron’s leadership has held off recommendation from some executives of the company executives have wanted to move the company’s headquarters to Texas for a long time due to the company’s long history in the area and location of its assets including the large scale Richmond refinery in California.
