Chinese Foreign Minister to visit Nigeria, three other African countries
Nigeria and three other African countries; Namibia, the Republic of the Congo and Chad will this month, play host to a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chinese Foreign Minister, General Wang Yi.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Mao Ning disclosed this at a virtual news conference organised by the ministry on Friday in Beijing.
According to her, the visit which is on the invitation by the various countries, is to advance their diplomatic cooperation with China.
Mao said, “Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi will visit Namibia, the Republic of the Congo, Chad and Nigeria from Jan. 5 to 11, 2024 at the invitation of these countries.”
“This will be the 35th consecutive year that Chinese Foreign Minister visits Africa on the first overseas trip at the start of the year,” she added
Wang Yi is expected to hold high-level talks with leaders and foreign ministers of the host countries, discussing key areas of mutual interest, including trade, infrastructure development, climate change, and regional security.
