Civil servants’ strike: Listen to agitation of workers, PDP tells Ayade

Cross River State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on Governor Ben Ayade to listen to the agitations of workers.
The party said they are aware the governor prides himself as the “Alert master” and lover of civil servants.
The PDP’s position was made known in Calabar via a release signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Prince Mike Ojisi.
The party said, “Aware that the governor sanctimoniously prides himself as the “Alert master” and lover of civil servants, we humbly appeal to his conscience to dialogue with the leadership of the Organised Labour Union and listen to their agitations”, the party said.
He said the party wholeheartedly identifies with the struggle for a better welfare and remuneration for workers not just in Cross River State but the entire country.
He added that the party is concerned that workers who are the true drivers of government policies and programmes are treated shabbily.
The PDP also enjoined the leadership of labour to consider alternative avenues for speedy resolution of the crisis which has the tendency to further escalate the suffering of the masses.
Besides this, the party said the strike has the potential of compounding and worsening the state’s economic woes under the rudderless management of the present inept government.
The party however expressed confidence that there will be light at the end of the tunnel for workers in the state.
