Corps members not part of new minimum wage – NYSC
National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has stated that corps members will not receive N70,000 minimum wage, and as such do not need to upgrade their accounts to accommodate the payment.
The Corps which reacting to media reports claiming that serving members were part of the new minimum wage increase, described the media claims as ‘absolute falsehood.’
In a statement, the NYSC Director of Information and Public Relations, Mr. Eddy Megwa, disclosed that no directive has been received from the relevant sector of government responsible for wages matters.
“It is therefore impossible for the NYSC to issue any information on such.
“Corps Members already know the approved channel and mode of communication in the Scheme and should therefore ignore the directive accordingly.”
Mr. Megwa, therefore, urged corps members, parents, and the public to disregard the misinformation and ignore any directives to upgrade their accounts.
The scheme reminded corps members of the approved channels and modes of communication within the scheme.
NYSC further warned bloggers and social media influencers against issuing unauthorized statements concerning the management of the scheme and advised corps members not to allow mischief makers to mislead them.
Megwa reiterated the scheme’s commitment to accurate and timely communication with corps members and the public.
