Presidential Task Force (PTF) on Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) has approved the lifting of ban on all outdoor sporting activities in the country immediately.
The ban was placed to check the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country since March, this year.
Confirming the development, Thursday, Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, via his Twitter handle (@SundayDareSD), the decision will see football and other outdoor sporting activities return to action in the country, although with fears that games may be played behind closed-doors as presently obtained in other parts of the world where sports had returned.
“We welcome the lifting of D ban on football by the PTF.
“The lifting of restriction on outdoor activities including football is in line with earlier consultations with Ministry of Youth and Sports and NCDC.
“However, this is limited to the actual sports itself & not mass gathering.”
Earlier, Thursday, the minister had also announced the reopening of all National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camps.
Federal Government gad approved the reopening of all National Youth Service Corps (NYSC Orientation Camps across the country, from November 10, this year.
The NYSC Orientation Camps have been under lock since outbreak of the Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) health pandemic, in March, this year, as Federal Government closed all public facilities to check further spread of the virus in the country.
Announcing the approval, Thursday, Dare said the reopening will, however, be subject to Covid-19 management and safety protocols.
“The Resumption of the NYSC Orientation Camp for prospective Youth Corpers has been approved and opens on November 10th 2020. Full COVID-19 Protocols will be enforced,” he said.
