C’River commences rehabilitation of deplorable roads in Calabar

The Cross River State government has commenced the rehabilitation of deplorable roads in the Calabar metropolis through direct labour.
Some of the roads which have either been rehabilitated or reconstructed include culvert at Chamley Street, Clerks Allay, Nyong Edem/Eyo Okon/ Muri Nta Eke Street (concrete solid road construction), Yellow Duke gully construction, Parliamentary Extension road renovation project and Esuk-Utan road dualization project.
Speaking during an inspection of some of the projects, Erasmus Ekpang, the state commissioner for information said the Governor Otu administration was dedicated to restoring Calabar to its former glory.
Some residents of the Calabar Metropolis who appraised the governor’s intervention in the decrepit infrastructure in the area expressed appreciation to the governor.
Elder Saviour Etim, a resident of Clerks Allay Street, shared his joy, saying, “I am very happy with the governor for thinking about us here at Clerks Allay.
“I have been here for over 30 years, and people have been deviating and urinating here, using the street as a toilet. I want to thank the governor for coming to our aid. He must be commended for this great achievement”, he said.
Youth leader Comrade Clement Effiong Etim of Esuk Utan also expressed his gratitude to Governor Otu.
“I want to express my gratitude to the governor, Senator Bassey Otu, for ensuring the construction of this road.
“It will significantly ease our people’s movement. We thank you, our Sweet Prince, for your good work”, he said.
