C’River: Elvert Ayambem emerges 10th Assembly Speaker

Hon. Elvert Ayambem has just been elected speaker of the 10th Cross River State House of Assembly.
He is a second term member representing Ikom 2 State Constituency.
Hon. Ayambem emerged Speaker against the run of play and is usually called “the son of nobody” by his supporters.
He was elected at the floor of the chambers in the 10th Assembly’s inaugural sitting where the 25 newly elected members were sworn in.
Hon. Ayambem will succeed Eteng Williams, the speaker of the 9th assembly who is now senator representing the central Senatorial district of the state.
