Cross River Govt sets Feb. 2024 completion date for proposed N3.7bn Obudu airport
Cross State Governor, Bassey Otu has set a six-month completion date for the proposed N3.7 billion Obudu Cargo and Passenger Airport.
Governor Out who is Otu, who disclosed this, last weekend, during a media parley in Calabar, while announcing that his government had also set aside the sum of N3.7 billion for the completion of the project, further added that the facility is expected to be fully functional in six months time.
According to Otu, the project will be executed by an Irish Aviation Company, which will also build and operate an Aviation Training School in Bebi, Obanliku, as part of the deal.
“The sum of N3.7 billion has also been made available by the State Government for the completion of the Obudu Cargo and Passenger Airport which is part of efforts to turn Cross River into an aviation hub,” Out said, adding that there would not be any further delays.
The governor who assured of completion of other projects started by his predecessor, including Prof. Ben Ayade, and up to 1999.
On the state’s debt profile, Otu said this has been restructured to allow it some space to achieve its first vision of making sure that every individual both indigenes and residents alike enjoy the dividends of democracy.

Otu hinted plans are in top gear by the state to build a-state-of-the-art electric trains from Calabar to Obudu to ease transportation in the state.
“My administration is mainly focused on completing existing projects from 1999 till date instead of embarking on new ones, the construction of this railway line is crucial to alleviate the current transportation issues in the state.
“We are fully committed to not only kick-starting this project but we will also ensure its successful completion within the lifespan of my administration,’ Otu said.
