The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on General Duties, Ekpenyong Akiba says Cross River State is now a model for development in Nigeria.
He disclosed this in Calabar after being conferred with the traditional title of “Otu Ekong of Calabar South”.
The award was conferred on him by the Paramount Ruler of Calabar South Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty Etubom Nyong Effiom Okon Etim Ewa I as part of his third anniversary celebration.
Akiba who dedicated the award to the state governor also thanked him for his development stride and expressed optimism about the state’s future.
“I want to specially thank His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, who is the reason for this award.
“He is a transformational governor who delivers on his mandate. If he had not delivered on his promises, there would be no basis for this recognition.
“In just two years, His Excellency has turned Cross River into a state to envy. If what we see today is what he has achieved in two years, then in the next two and beyond, when we return him for a second term, Cross River will be totally transformed.
“We have no other option than to give him eight years to complete this great work of rebuilding our state.”
Barr. Akiba expressed deep gratitude to the royal father and the people of Calabar South for the honour, describing it as a “call to more responsibility” rather than a mere celebration.
Paramount Ruler of Calabar South, HRM Etubom Nyong Effiom Okon Etim Ewa I, described the honour as a recognition of Akiba’s commitment to service, leadership, and his contributions toward the growth of Calabar South and Cross River State at large.
Several personalities were honoured as part of the anniversary celebration including the Chief of Staff to the governor, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar.
