Cross River PDP cracks down on members flirting with ADC

The Cross River State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has vowed to sanction members associating with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The party made this known at the end of its 28th State Working Committee (SWC) meeting held on Wednesday 9th July 2025.
The party in a statement signed by its State Publicity secretary, Mike Ojisi said “the attention of the committee was drawn to a publication which categorically named and some of our serving State Executive members and Chapter Chairmen of our great party as having been “approved” to serve as Local Government Area Coordinators of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Cross River State.
“As a democratic party, we are not adverse to the exercise of our members’ fundamental rights to freedom of association as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Nevertheless, the Committee firmly resolved that any individual members wishing to join other political parties should first resign their membership from the party as the Electoral Act does not support dual membership of political parties.
“Therefore, the State working committee has requested those whose names are so published to be honourable enough to do the needful by either denouncing such publication or resigning their positions in the party within 48 hours otherwise the party will invoke the relevant disciplinary provisions of its constitution against them.
“In view of the above, the State working committee has re-affirmed that the People’s Democratic Party is not in any coalition with any political party as resolved and pronounced at the end of its 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held recently at Abuja”, the party said.
The PDP urged our Executive Committee members to prioritise their loyalty to the party and refrain from any activities and associations that may be perceived as defection or anti- party activities.
The State working committee further reassures Party members and supporters that the party remains committed to its founding ideals and values and will continue to work tirelessly to promote good governance and development in Cross River State which is presently under arrest in the rudderless administration of the APC in the state.
The party urges members to look with hope to the future as better days are coming when the party will return to her winning ways.
