Cross River security council strategize ahead of Council polls

Ahead of the November 2, 2024 local government election, Cross River State security council has met to review security strategies for the elections.
The meeting was presided over by the State governor Senator Bassey Otu and also attended by his deputy, Peter Odey.
Speaking after the meeting, the State Police Commissioner Augustine Grimah, has assured of a peaceful exercise.
He explained that all security agencies in the state are united and will fully deploy their resources to guarantee a peaceful exercise.
He also disclosed that the state is a peaceful state and expressed optimism that this will continue before and after the elections.
“It was critical that we had to meet ahead of the election in order to strategize to ensure a peaceful exercise.
“All relevant security agencies in the state are united and have fully deployed their resources to guarantee the safety of citizens and maintain law and order during the elections.
“With security agencies fully prepared and collaborating to ensure a peaceful electoral process, the citizens of Cross River State can confidently exercise their voting rights without fear.
“The people of Cross River State are known for their peaceful nature and we are confident that this would be reflected before, during, and after the elections.
He assured citizens that they could feel free to exercise their voting rights, as the environment would be conducive for all.
Grimah cautioned that anyone considering disrupting the peace and harmony of the state during the elections should abandon those thoughts now.
He urged the electorate to embrace the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in the state and come out to vote on the election day.
Also in attendance were the State Security Adviser, Major General Ubi Obono (rtd) and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar.
