United States-based carrier, Delta Air Lines has embarked on a grand plan to raise funds and awareness for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, as it scales up the campaign against the disease to new heights with a range of initiatives on the ground and in the air.

In Nigeria, breast cancer is the most common malignancy among women, accounting for 22.7 per cent of all new cancer cases. With a staggering 12,000 deaths recorded in 2018 alone, the country also has the highest breast cancer mortality rate of all nations.
Since 2005, Delta employees, passengers, and their friends and families have raised $24 million for research, including $3 million raised in 2022.

To this end, Delta Air Lines operating over 4,000 daily flights flying its iconic Pink Plane to international destinations while its flight attendants will be sporting pink uniform, as part of the airline’s initiative to raise awareness of the disease and raise funds, this October month to remember.
Also, Delta flight attendants will be serving pink lemonade onboard, even as passengers will have the opportunity to purchase different products in the characteristic pink color – from hats, to scarves, to t-shirts, up to themed creations created by Delta employees – to contribute to the cause.
“Delta is also encouraging customers and those who want to donate to participate by shopping at a dedicated online store, SkyBoutique (deltashop.com).
“Delta’s employees are the real driving force behind this initiative, as many of them have been directly affected by the disease,” the airline stressed.
