Delta police apprehend 12 suspected cultists, recover fire arms, others

Delta Police Command’s Anti-Cult Unit has recently arrested no fewer than 11 persons suspected to be cultists in Ogwashi Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state.

The State Anti Cult Unit raided their hideout where they were having a meeting and apprehended one Collins Okinji and eight others.

It was verified that the SACU recovered one Pump action, one double barrel cut to size gun, one battle axe and two live cartridges.

There had been a cult clash in Ogwashi Uku which led to the initial arrest of three suspects on June 06, 2021.

A source who spoke on condition of anonymity told our correspondent that two persons were shot dead with several others maimed during the clash.

Reacting, the state commissioner of police, Ari Muhammed Ali, charged the security operatives in the state to sustain this high spirit to make the state unsafe for criminals.

Muhammed Ali who appreciated the members of the public who had in one way or the other been helpful to the police by providing useful information assured them that their identities will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
