Drama as Ebonyi APC produces two 2023 governorship candidate

Two factions of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ebonyi State, on Thursday, held parallel governorship primary elections that produced two Governorship candidates for the Party ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The two candidates are the immediate past Chairman Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Chief Elias Mbam and the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Chief Francis Nwifuru.
Governor David Umahi’s backed faction produced Hon Francis Nwifuru, while the faction backed by the old APC produced Chief Elias Mbam.
The two factions held the primaries at different locations in Abakaiki, the state capital.
While Mbam scored 741 votes in his own factional primary election, Nwifuru polled 743 votes.
The returning Officer, Mr Egwu Akanu Otuu announced Mbam the winner while Professor Emmanuel Kehinde Adebayo announced Nwifuru the winner of the Umahi’s faction. END//
