Abia Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, says judging from available positive macro-economic indices, the state was marching into a better and more prosperous future.
Ikpeazu who stated this in his 2022 Easter message to Abians, said plans to ensure uninterrupted power supply in some parts of the state anchored on bringing Geometric Power project on stream remain the magic wand for turning around the economic fortunes of Abia and Abians.
“Hopefully, before the end of this year, a huge part of our state will become illuminated with uninterrupted electricity as the Geometric Power Project will fully come on stream. The socio-economic quantum leap this will come with can only be imagined.
“As a state with great potentials in small scale manufacturing and commerce, steady power will redefine our entire existence. When added to the fact that several key strategic infrastructural projects that will further boost commercial activities, especially in Aba, will be commissioned in the next few weeks, it becomes even clearer that we are marching forward as a state and as a people,” the Governor said in a statement made available to newsmen in Umuahia, Sunday.
Ikpeazu reiterated that Abia has to remain peaceful for all the plans of his administration to mature and bear good fruits for the people. He therefore cautioned politicians to be careful not to plunge the state into crisis as they go about politicking in the build up to the 2023 general elections.
“The Governor also uses the opportunity to appeal to the political class to tread with caution as they get ready to commence political activities for the 2023 elections.
“In the last 7 years, we have, by the grace of God Almighty and a deliberate and painstaking planning, managed to keep Abia as one of the states with most stable socio-political environments. We have, by the kindness of God, kept our state peaceful and safe, when compared to our neighbors.
“I therefore appeal to our politicians to be mindful of these as they plan to go into full scale politicking. Any acts capable of plunging our dear state into avoidable chaos must be avoided. The peace and security of our people must remain the most paramount consideration,” the statement added.
Ikpeazu, in the statement, assured Abians of his irrevocable commitment to their welfare, even as the State grapples with scare resources.
On the Easter celebration, the Governor sent a message of goodwill to the people of Abia State on the occasion of the 2022 Easter Celebration.
“Once again, we have the exceptional privilege of being part of this year’s Easter celebration, one of the foundations of our Christian faith. The death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ are, perhaps, the most significant events that shape our faith as Christians. It strengthens our faith and most importantly, gives us an enduring hope of a more glorious tomorrow.
“The Governor, on behalf his family, wishes our people a wonderful, peaceful and safe Easter Celebrations filled with the blessings of God Almighty,”the statement quoted the Governor as saying.
