Ebonyi: INEC issues Certificates of Return to winners in March 18 polls
… Announces supplementary elections in five state, one federal constituencies

The Independent National Electoral Commissioner (INEC) has announced that supplementary elections will hold in five State House of Assembly constituencies and one Federal Constituency in Ebonyi State on 15th April, 2023.
The State Resident Electoral Commissioner, (REC), Ebonyi State, Mrs Pauline Onyeka stated this in Abakaliki, capital of the state, on Wednesday
She spoke during the presentation of Certificates of Return to the Governor-elect, Francis Nwifuru, his running mate, Patricia Obila as well as state assembly members-elect.
The event took place at the INEC state headquarters.
Mrs Onyeka noted that only 17 constituency have their results announced and elections concluded our of 24.
She said five constituencies have inconclusive results while two constituencies have issue which the commission is resolving.
“Only 17 members elect will receive their certificate out of 24 due to inconclusive election in the affected Constituencies. Two have issues to be corrected while elections were declared inconclusive in five state constituencies.
She noted that election for Ezza North/Ishielu federal constituency was also declared inconclusive.
She noted that supplementary elections into the affected state constituencies will take place on 15th April.
Highlights of the occasion was the presentation of certificate to the Governor-elect, Deputy Governor-elect and House of Assembly members-elect, by the INEC National Electoral Commissioner, in charge of Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States, Kenneth Ukeagu.
Mr Nwifuru appreciated INEC for a free and fair electoral process.
He called on his opponents to eschew all differences and work together with him for the peace and development of the State.
He promise that his administration would run an all-inclusive government.
He promised that the people’s input will be sought before taking critical decisions by his administration.
Mr Nwifụrụ further promised that the rule of law and separation of power would be entrenched and encouraged in his administration.
